Workshop FAQ's "Coaching and the New Science of Gratitude" Q. What can I expect to learn? A. This workshop marrys the new field of the science of positive psychology with the field of coaching. It is based on Ben's passionate belief that positive psychology should be the centerpiece of any coaching practice. It gives research-based information on why happiness matters, why it is elusive, documented exercises for increasing it and maintaining it. It provides an introduction to individual and group coaching from this framework. It also gives helping professionals practical advice on building a small, highly regarded, coaching practice that offers significant advantages for natural, profitable diversification. The workshop provides concrete advice on how to structure and build a coaching practice, how to locate rewarding clients, and how, in the process, to protect the integrity of your ongoing clinical or professional work.
Q. Who leads "Coaching and the New Science of Gratitude"? A. All our workshops are led by MentorCoach™ Founder & CEO,
Ben Dean, Ph.D., Master Certified Coach. Ben holds a Ph.D. in psychology
from the University of Texas at Austin and is a psychologist in independent
practice in Bethesda, MD. Ben is an ICF Master Certified Coach, the highest
designation of the International Coach Federation, and has been coaching
a variety of clients (executives, professionals, business owners, and more)
since 1982. In 2003, Ben co-founded Authentic Happiness Coaching with Martin
E. P. Seligman, Ph.D. From 2003 to 2005, AHC trained 1000 professionals in
the theory, tests, assessments, exercises, and interventions of positive
psychology. He is a leader at the intersection of coaching and positive psychology.
Q. I am not a licensed clinician. Would "Coaching and the Science of Gratitude" be right for me? A. Yes. If you are interested in coaching. In addition to mental health professionals and other helping professionals, our workshops always include some participants from other disciplines. They are always welcome.
Q. What does my enrollment fee cover? A. To find out the enrollment fee for the workshop in which you are interested, go to the Upcoming Workshops section of this site. Your fee includes an incredible day of learning and all course materials, as well as coffee, tea, soda and water beverages during two class breaks. Lunch, parking and hotel expenses are NOT included in your fee. Your workshop fee may also be tax deductible. Check with your tax professional.
Q. I enrolled for a workshop but have not heard anything. What should I do? A. If you have applied for the workshop well in advance, you should receive a written confirmation. If in doubt, feel free to call us at 301-986-5688 or email: info@mentorcoach.com.
Q. How do I get my CEU certificate? A. MentorCoach™ is approved to offer Continuing Education for psychologists, social workers and certified counselors.
