to coaching the whole person and exploring the connection
to the body's wisdom during the coaching process. Pat

1. About the Body-Centered Coaching Master
in the latest research in neuroscience and mindfulness, Body-Centered
Coaching (developed by Marlena Field) builds on an integration
of the teachings of the Hakomi Method of Psychotherapy and the
ICF coaching competencies. These Body-Centered techniques combine
mindfulness with access to the body's wisdom, and intelligence
creating a whole-person-centered approach that enables clients
to experience a greater depth of insight, awareness and self-acceptance.
Body-Centered Coaching is both an approach and
a set of tools. In this class, coaches are also trained to connect
to their own body as a resource when working with clients.
The focus on 'being' for both the coach and the client,
Mindful, present and centered
Spacious, comfortable with silence and with not knowing
Creative, intuitive, curious, and open to experiment
This approach encourages coaches to coach from a holistic perspective
The whole person in the coaching session: body, mind,
spirit, engaging the client's full resources
Focus on the present moment experience and be increasingly
aware of how the signals from the body can be accessed to enhance
the coaching process
Bring mindfulness and attention to breath, movement,
and sensations, and 'noticing' the impact of explorations, potential
decisions, and the client's use of their own body-centered language,
This 12 hour class will provide coaches with tools that can
enhance coaches in all areas of coaching including but not limited
to: health and wellness, executive, career, ADHD, and other
niche areas of coaching. This can be used to gain ongoing CEUs
that will be relevant for ICF renewal, health and wellness coaching
certification renewal and potentially other areas of coaching
requiring renewal of certification. In the early weeks, Body-Centered
coaching principles will be introduced, followed by the nine
strategies, with conclusion applications related to health and
wellness coaching implications that are applicable to all coaching
2. The 8 Weeks
Week 1: Introduction to Body-Centered Coaching
and the importance of involving the body, mind, spirit in the
coaching process. The relationship of Body-Centered Coaching
to Neuroscience and Positive Psychology along with sensitivity
to coaching language and the impact on the client. Coaches will
be introduced to the importance of engaging their own 'body-centered
resources' to use while using Body-Centered coaching. Finally
the use of Body-Centered coaching with all types of clients will
Week 2: Introduction of an overview of the nine coaching
strategies used in Body-Centered Coaching in the three major
Body-Centered Coaching areas including: Embodied Resources: Decision-Making,
and Moving Beyond Limits and discussion of the ways these categories
of strategies differ. Then, begin with the introduction of Embodied
Resources: Embracing the Signal and the use of this particular
coaching strategy will be explored. Coaching demonstrations will
enhance student learning.
Week 3: Continued presentation of the two additional strategies
in the area of Embodied Resources: Embodied Metaphors with powerful
examples of embodied metaphors that the coach and client may not
have considered 'embodied metaphors in the past. Then the steps
in Embodied Resources: Remembering the Resource will be taught
along with the use of this coaching strategy. Coaching demonstrations
will enhance student learning.
Week 4: Introduction of the three coaching strategies
within Body-Centered Coaching's Decision-Making strategies with
examples of how these strategies can be used in different coaching
situations. Then, explain the steps in the use of the first of
three strategies, Decision Making: Stepping-Over-the-Line. The
coaching situations and the use of this particular coaching strategy
will be explored and a coaching demonstration will enhance student
Week 5: Continued presentation of one of the three strategies
in Decision-Making with the steps in two more approaches:
Decision-Making: Exploring Possibilities and Acting-as-If. The
coaching situations and the use of this coaching strategy will
be explored and a coaching demonstration will enhance student
Week 6: Introduction of two of the three strategies in Body-Centered
Coaching's Moving Beyond Limits. These will include the steps
in: Moving Beyond Limits: Beyond Disempowering Beliefs and Beyond
Normal Anxiety and Fear. Students will learn about the use of
this coaching strategy and a coaching demonstration will enhance
Week 7: The steps in the use of this coaching strategy will
be explored along with a coaching demonstration will enhance student
learning. Finally, a discussion of the coach's decisions regarding
which of the strategies to use with clients and suggestions for
the use of these strategies in virtual and in-person coaching
will be presented.
Week 8: Applications to all types of coaching including
Life, Executive, Career, Health and Wellness, and ADHD will be
presented with situations that are applicable to all coaches.
Specific application to body-centered experiences related to stress,
lifestyle changes, energy and will-power depletion (Baumeister's
research) will be highlighted.
3. What You Will Get Out of This Course:
You will learn when and how to use body-centered
coaching and a number of specific coaching strategies that can
be used with all types of coaching clients.
You will learn how this whole person approach to
coaching is not just focused on 'head thinking' but is built on:
body-intelligence, neuroscience, and positive psychology knowledge.
With the use of coaching demonstrations and homework assignments,
you will learn how to use their own body-awareness to enhance
their body-centered coaching.

This course is for coaches, therapists, consultants, educators,
health-care professionals, mentors, and all those who seek innovative
coaching paths toward greater health, happiness and whole person
orientation to decision-making and working through blocks in their
personal and professional lives.
5. Readings and Resources
The course will use one primary text, Complete
Training Manual by Marlena Field. In addition, Pat
will provide relevant materials articles on the class' password-protected
website as the class progresses. There will also be optional readings
Being by Donna Martin and Marlena Field.

10. Attendance Requirements
Every class is recorded. You may listen to some
or all of the classes by recording at your leisure.
However, to receive credit for CEs, ICF CCEUs (Core
Competencies), credit toward MentorCoach Certification, or to
receive a Certificate of Completion, you must be present for 10
of the 12 hours of classes.
Yes. Counts twelve (12) hours toward MentorCoach® and International
Coach Federation Certification. Again, to receive credit for certification,
students must be counted present for 10 of the 12 hours of classes.
Listening to the class by recording does not count toward the
attendance requirement for certification.
12. Continuing Education Credits
Body Centered Coaching provides twelve (12) hours of CEs for
Social Workers (NASW), and, in California, for Marriage and Family
Therapists (BBS). Internationally, meets criteria for twelve (12)
hours of Continuing Coach Education with the International Coach
Note: The Optional $75 CE fee applies only if you are a licensed
mental health professional in the US and need CEs for Social Workers
(NASW), and, in California, for Marriage and Family Therapists
(BBS). Otherwise, indicate you do not want CEs when you register.
To receive credit for CEs, students must be present for 10 of
the 12 hours of classes. Listening to the class by recording does
not count toward the attendance requirement for receiving CEs.
13. ICF CCEs
MentorCoach is an International Coach Federation (ICF) Accredited
Coach Training Program. This class Provides ICF Continuing Coach
Education (12 ICF CCES - 12 hrs Core Competencies). There is no
charge for ICF CCEs. To receive credit for CEs, students must
be present for 10 of the 12 hours of classes. Listening to the
class by recording does not count toward the attendance requirement
for receiving CEs.
14. Refund Policy
You may withdraw your registration at any time before the beginning
of the second one hour class and receive a full refund. You are
responsible for the full tuition amount if you do not withdraw
before the beginning of the second class.
ABOUT PAT HINTON WALKER
Hinton Walker, PhD, RN, FAAN, PCC, CBCC is an accomplished
coach and ICF Coach Trainer at MentorCoach LLC, Bethesda, MD.
She provides leadership for the Health and Wellness Coaching Certification
program at MentorCoach. Pat is one of the few approved, certified
Body- Centered Coach Trainers who integrates this content into
health and wellness coaching. She is creative, experienced, brings
life and humor to teaching/training while focusing on use of evidence-based
coaching strategies with extensive online education/training experience.
Pat serves on the NCCHWC advisory council representing MentorCoach,
LLC and has submitted questions for the national certification
exam that is being planned by the NCCHWC. Additionally, she teaches
Foundations (a 31 week course focused on the ICF core competencies)
with application of Positive Psychology to PCC-level coach training.
Pat is certified in wellness (CWC), executive (CEC), body-centered
(CBCC), and social-emotional intelligence coaching. She is recognized
as a leader in the use of mHealth (mobile health) data for just
in time evidence for health behavior change with an eye on the
future use of population health data that can be used to improve
health and wellness in businesses and organizations in addition
to individual coaching.
Pat is a nationally and internationally- recognized nurse, academic
leader and coach - having served as a dean in more than one university
and currently serving as a university Vice President. When she
was Dean of the School of Nursing at the University of Colorado,
she was instrumental in advancing online education. Pat has an
established coaching practice and integrates principles from health
and wellness coaching into her career, executive and life coaching
national and international business. Pat is an accomplished writer,
editing books and authoring over 100+ publications related to
health and healthcare.
